About Shelly

Author, Screenwriter and Documentary Filmmaker.

Shelly is currently working on a culture shifting documentary film for families and publishing Anatomy of Transformation, stories from year 49, the year everything changed. Her writing seeks to to dig deep into the universal experiences of women and bring forward stories that can evoke emotional connection, social change or amplify a voice.

Shelly started her writing career as a food and wellness content writer for small businesses such as Alice & Louise Catering, Studio BE Pilates, and The FamilyRx. She is a Creative Writing degree candidate seeking representation for screenwriting and narrative non-fiction. She’s the author of  completed works such as Anatomy of Transformation, a narrative non-fiction novel, Lay of The Land, a guide for families, and Crossing Thresholds, a feature length screenplay. 

Shelly has had a varied career path giving her rich experience to draw from in her writing endeavors as well as subject matter expertise in the fields of health, wellness, relationship and leadership. She is currently publishing on Substack at The Pearl, a culture study and spirituality column and Modern Family Recovery, a column for families challenged by substance use. Her current work in progress is a narrative non-fiction novel about a 40 year warm and difficult friendship titled, Six Days Apart.

When she’s not writing, reading or listening to stories she’s usually somewhere warm and sunny, cooking up long table dinners, dancing at concerts, watching movies, or walking her big black lab.
